July 04 1956-Jan. 18, 2012

Roger Earl Meier, age 55, July 4, 1956-Jan. 18, 2012. Roger was a well-respected and generous man, known for his kindness and love of family and friends. After being diagnosed with Osteosarcoma 7 months ago Roger left this world holding the hands of his family on Jan. 18, 2012. He was born in Vancouver, WA, July 4, 1956 to loving parents Earl and Carol Meier. He was one of 7 children. Roger was a 1974 graduate of Ridgefield High School. He went on to study Forestry at Lower Columbia College, where he met Michelle Almsted and they had a daughter.

In 1979 he wed Mary Davis. They had three children during their 17 years together.

That same year, Roger began working his way up through the line trade at Clark Public Utilities. He worked as a groundsman, then an operator, and became a lineman in 1991. For the last 10 years he worked as a serviceman while also serving as president of the 125 club. Roger was passionate and dedicated to his work. Some of Roger's best friends were men he worked alongside for the past 32 years.

In 2002 he wed Mary Ann Eterno/Spiva. Roger was blessed to become part of her two childrens' lives. The home they built together in Hockinson was the central location for all the friends and family gatherings. One of Roger's greatest gifts was his ability to make everyone feel welcome.

Roger loved to fish, hunt, golf and enjoy the outdoors. He loved to travel and go on adventures with his wife Mary Ann in their motorhome. Roger touched the lives of many people and was the kind of man to give the shirt off his back. What Roger most cherished was spending time with friends and his large extended family.

Roger was preceded in death by his brother, Charles; and is survived by his parents, Earl and Carol Meier, his siblings and their spouses, Linda Meier, Susan and Jeff Grimes, Jeanine Meier, Jerry and Jeanna Meier, and Diane and Jeff McKee; his children and their spouses, Racheal Almsted and Brian Beck, Laura and Neal Tucek, Becca Meier and Brian Lund, Matthew Meier and Heather Napier, Jovana and Patrick Schmitz and Jonathan Spiva.

Some of his proudest accomplishments were becoming a grandfather to Davis and Jacquelynn Tucek, Kennedy Lund and Paisley Schmitz. His children and grandchildren were the light of his life. - See more at: http://obits.columbian.com/obituaries/columbian/obituary.aspx?pid=155569208#sthash.PzbwQLrt.dpuf
